Phone-free school days, without the pouches.

The phone problem just became a legal one.

New statutory guidance expects schools in England to be mobile-phone-free by default during the school day. Pouches and lockers are expensive, get lost or broken, and still need constant policing — and outright confiscation creates friction with pupils and parents.

EduHelm takes a different approach: it works with the phone pupils already carry, switching it into focus mode automatically at school and back to normal when they leave — with your staff in full control.

How it works

Set up once. From then on it runs itself.

1

Install with consent

Pupils install EduHelm on their Android phone, with parent/guardian consent.

2

Focus turns on at school

Using a school geofence and your timetable, distracting apps are limited automatically during the school day.

3

Staff stay in control

Unlock a single phone or a whole year group in seconds from a secure web dashboard.

4

Normal after school

Off the school site or outside school hours, it's an ordinary phone again.

Why schools choose EduHelm

All the focus, none of the hardware.

Fully automatic

No pupil action needed — focus mode follows your hours and location on its own.

No hardware cost

No pouches or lockers to buy, replace, or manage. It uses phones pupils already own.

School-managed

A secure dashboard to unlock individuals or year groups instantly, and set your hours.

Privacy-first

No pupil names are ever stored on our servers. Location never leaves the phone.

Always reachable

Calls and approved learning apps keep working during focus mode.

Allow learning tools

Permit the apps you want available — like Sparx, Brainscape or a calculator.

Built for safeguarding and compliance

The questions your DPO and SLT will ask — answered by design.

  • No pupil names stored. Each phone uses an anonymous code; the name↔code list stays private to the school.
  • UK GDPR & the ICO Children's Code built in — data minimisation, no profiling, no ads, no tracking.
  • Location stays on the device — used only to detect the school geofence, never stored or shared.
  • Parent-consented and removable by parents at any time.
  • Aligns with the statutory phone guidance for mobile-phone-free school days.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on iPhone?

EduHelm is currently available for Android. iOS support is on our roadmap.

What about pupils without a phone, or who leave it at home?

EduHelm manages the phones that have it installed — it complements, rather than replaces, your wider phone policy.

Can parents remove it?

Yes. Parents can remove the app at any time using a parent PIN — so the school keeps focus reliable, while families stay in control of their own device.

Is pupils' data safe?

Yes. No pupil names are stored on our servers, location never leaves the phone, and we don't track or profile pupils. See our privacy policy.

How much does it cost?
